I own all of these CDs. This is a fine collection of their hits, BUT, make no mistake about it, D & B On Tour With Eric Clapton & Friends is the classic and by far their best. "Superstar" initially was entitled "Groupie", penned by Bonnie and Leon Russell, but recorded by the Carpenters before Bonnie could put it on wax). I enjoy each disc, but I'm most struck by a song from "I'm Still The Same." She gives her wrenching, intimate revival of "Superstar," sweetened by Mickey Raphael's haunting harmonica fills, will induce chills, whether you remember the '70s or not. I guess it had to be when you have George Harrison and Dave Mason playing along with "EC" on guitars and Leon Russell on the ivory (as well as acting music director) how could it be equalled. The rest of the entourage is pretty much the same gang that Leon assembled for Joe Cocker's Mad Dogs and Englishmen.Bonnie has reemerged in this decade with I'm Still the Same (Audium, 2002) Pennies from Heaven (Zoho, 2005) Roots, Blues & Jazz (Zoho, 2005).
Bonnie voice, is so soulful to a heart with endless feeling of joy & Delaney, song witing very well done. for a old hippie like me. great blues, rock, soul & sweet touch of gospel music.
thank you for the music. "Everlasting Love Song". My trip never over.
This is a great cd of music. thoses days & nights listing to, what maded me a dreamer of a world full of love, soul & peace. the music plays on.
Their music is a good time trip, well wroth taking. I miss.
Their albums are not that easy to find so buy this one.and buy all of them. I would rate the live album and Motel Shot right up there with anything done by the Beatles, Stones, anyone.in the late 60's - early 70's D&B could have kicked anyone's butt right off the stage. Then get this album and anything else either of them recorded.Delany and Bonnie Bramlet are simply THE most under-appreciated, unknown and talented rock and rollers that the 60's produced.and don't forget - Eric Clapton stole their band became Derek and the Dominos.
The fact that she is not a huge star with armies of worshiping fans has always mystified me. Its got "Only You Know and I Know" and "Superstar" which are both worth the cost of the album alone. The last time I saw Bonnie Bramlet was on the Rosanne show - playing a neighbor who was married to David Crosby - and they all sat around the back yard singing.and she sounded AMAZING.
If you don't know them, then get the live concert album first (with Clapton and Harrison) and listen to it and you will understand why these folks are worthy of our worship and admiration. Spread the word. This is a classic Delaney and Bonnie album.
If you like these 2 incredible singers then get this one.
